OPTICFILM 7500I DRIVER

How can this be? Overall, I can recommend the Plustek OpticFilm i AI to any amateur photographer with a moderate archive of films – as long as you take your time to learn how to use it and the SilverFast AI Studio software, you are unlikely to be disappointed. Both are inserted through a dust-protected opening on the side of the device. The crops below show the same detail of the photo above, scanned at dpi with and without iSRD:. It almost doesn’t matter what your output size will be since you will probably reduce the enormous scan file during output. Is there a discount when upgrading to a more powerful version or if you already own a SilverFast software?

As the name suggests, the QuickScan option is for those who do not want to fiddle too much with settings. To spend on a Leica and optlcfilm on the scanner is like buying a Lamborghini and puting spent cooking oil in it. That is very interesting to hear that the Shutterbug reviewer recommends the Plustek over the Minolta.

Just press the button and the image looks like new. If you are printing 11×14 I would assume 8×10 should be fine as well. SilverFast AI Studio is a professional-grade imaging application that gives you more than you bargained for, offering everything from powerful colour management tools to complicated tone curve adjustments.

The grain clumps are visible in both scans, so the limiting factor might be the film itself. This in combination with the very fast scanning and the USB 2.

If you talk about the dynamic range, my Canon f flatbed has greater dynamic rage than this as 4. That is very nice, but what about black-and-white films and Kodachrome?

To make matters more complicated, every type of negative film has its own version of this orange mask, giving you no one-size-fits-all solution to this problem. Images are faded and I would like to try and restore some of the color. The colour i use most is Portra and it scans wonderfully.

But just because the Plustek’s allegedly higher resolution doen’t quite stand competition with the Nikon’s dpi, it doesn’t mean that it’s a low-resolution scanner in absolute terms. The software Silverfast is quite good and the infrared dust and scratch reduction system works very well for slides, not so good for color negative film but acceptable. See how well iSRD cleaned it up.

The one for mounted slides is reasonably solid and holds the transparencies – up to four at a time – firmly in position. The only film I found a bit limiting was Velvia 50, go figure.

For the majority of a typical hobbyist’s photographs, scanning at around dpi should be enough. Yes I can scan and create a file that big, but I don’t see any more detail beyond Caution when updating to macOS Mojave But I’ll hasten to add that this is still a very good figure for a film scanner – what’s more, I’ll go as far as to say it’s overkill for most shots. I have a i and aand I love the i. I bought the Plustek after not getting decent 35mm results from the Epson Keith.

Multi-Sampling was replaced by our much more powerful Multi-Exposure. Slides come out amazingly sharp and vivid. I didn’t want to wait for it as I have hundreds and perhaps thousands of slides and negatives to digitalize. And the Epson it replaced.

I hope to get around to shooting some Adox CMS 20 someday. Given that QuickScan provides no access to some of the Plustek i’s most useful features, you will have to learn how to use SilverFast, no matter how intimidating it may seem at first sight.

I find it unusable as it leaves halos at high contrast edges and has alignment problems with my Canon FSUS. The reviews of this scanner were all exemplary and various vendors said it was ‘out of stock’ so this was a good indication of optlcfilm good a purchase this scanner is. It opticfiln me thats why I remember the opinion. There are two ways to scan your photos with the OpticFilm i AI. Crucially, you do not get access to infrared dust removal, multi-scanning, multi-exposure, negative film profiles or manual colour correction when using the QuickScan utility – in other words, you are giving up most of the features opticilm have paid for.

Hardware Resolution x dpi Using this wizard, I have soon learned to control the software producing great results that are exactly fitting my needs.
